Skólarómur is a free website where parents rate and review leikskólar and grunnskólar in Iceland, so other parents can choose a school.
Who writes reviews
Parents and guardians of a child at the school, step-parents and foster parents included. They log in with Rafræn skilríki and are 18 or over.
The parent declares that the child attends or attended the school and that they do not work there. The declaration cannot be checked, but a false one is grounds for removing a review when it is reported.
Each person writes one review per school, while the child attends or within 3 years of leaving. A review shows only “Current Parent” or “Former Parent”, never a name or years.
Scores
A school shows scores once it has 5 counting reviews. A category score shows once 5 reviews have scored that category.
A review counts for 3 years after it was written or last edited. Older reviews can still be read.
School information
Size and age range come yearly from Statistics Iceland for grunnskólar and from the Association of Local Authorities for leikskólar. Private leikskólar are collected by hand. Address, opening hours and website were collected by hand, and the school itself can update them. Each fact shows its source and date.

Menus are in Icelandic and English. Reviews show in the language they were written in and are not machine translated.
